ICDS holds awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padao

JAMMU: A team of Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) officials on Tuesday organised an awareness programme regarding Beti Bachao Beti Padao scheme at Durga Nagar, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion ICDS Project Manager (Migrant) Jammu, Raziya Bano urged people to save the lives of the girl child. She also administered them an oath to fight female foeticide and also celebrate the birth of a girl and educate them.
She lamented that the perception regarding daughters as “paraya dhan” shouldn’t be appreciated into the society.
Educating participants about the scheme, she said that people should come forward and avail the benefits under the scheme.
The official threw light on the various ongoing schemes and urged the public to get benefit of the schemes. She also highlighted the importance of the Beti Bachav Beti Padav scheme and urged the locals to ensure that their girl child gets better education.
The programme was attended by supervisors Monika Tikoo and Shagufta Nisa besides workers, helpers, children, parents and many senior citizens and widows besides prominent citizens of the society.
The CDPO also praised the workers of the Anganwadi Centre at Durga Nagar and lauded their role in bringing awareness among the locals.
The ‘ Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ scheme, which seeks to address gender imbalance and discrimination against the girl child, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.
