JAMMU: Though favouring adequate help to the backward groups of the society, India Against Reservation (IAR) president, Sat Pal Sharma said that it should never be at the cost of talent and efficiency. A caste cannot be a class to define “Backwardness” of any individual, he added.
In a press release issued here on Monday, Sharma said there is no justification at all to provide reservation on the basis of caste which instead of improving the progress of the country and eliminating caste based backwardness is proving divisive, anti-secular and anti-progressive.
Sharma said the present caste based reservation policy divides the whole society into two broad categories, which creates an environment of victimhood and mistrust and is a major hindrance for national integration. The reservation on the basis of religions and caste also mar the bright future of able persons which is disastrous for the development of the country.
Sharma appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his band of ministers to think over the issue seriously and do away with such schemes that disintegrate the country or derail the progress of the country. This will be the best alternative to remove corruption from the country, Sharma added.
