JAMMU: Sailing on superb performance from Irshad Akhtar and Abid Mushtaq, Masood Club Bhadarwah on Sunday registered an emphatic 140 runs victory against J and K Forests XI in the ongoing First State level Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup at Country Cricket Academy, Gharota, near here.
Batting first, after Forests XI won the toss and opted to field, Masood Club set a target of 140 runs, courtesy brilliant 37-ball 92 runs innings from Irshad, along with Shafkat Baba (51).
Both lifted Masood Club innings from struggling 60 for seven to a total of 197 thereby adding 137 runs for the eighth wicket stand. For Forests XI, Zahid took three wickets, followed by Suhail and Khursheed Mansoor, who shared two each.
In reply, J and K Forests was bowled out cheaply for 71 runs in 20 overs. There was hardly any valuable contribution through three batsmen managed to score in double figure.
For Masood Club, Abid Mushtaq bowled brilliant spell taking away four wickets while Mehram Ganai and Khalid Akhtar took two each.
Irshad Akhtar was later declared Man of the Match. Sadiq Hussain and Shiv Kumar were Umpires while Lakshay Khajuria was Scorer in today’s match.
