HPCL distributes LPG connections

JAMMU: Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a scheme aimed at providing 5 Crore LPG connections in the name of women in BPL households across the country. The scheme is aimed at replacing the unclean cooking fuels mostly used in the rural India with the clean and more efficient LPG. This was stated by Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta while distributing LPG connections to eligible women of Chatha Mill, an area on the outskirts of Jammu.
Highlighting the objectives of the Scheme he said “The scheme aims at empowering women and protecting their health, reducing serious health hazards associated with cooking based on fossil fuel, reducing the number of deaths in India due to unclean cooking fuel and preventing young children from significant number of acute respiratory illnesses caused due to indoor air pollution by burning the fossil fuel.”
He exhorted eligible women candidates from BPL families to apply for the scheme by filling up the Ujjwala Yojana KYC application forms.
The programme was conducted by the LPG Distributor Ravinath Brothers of HPCL. Ajay Singh, Senior Regional Manager and Anees J Qari, Deputy Manager Sales, HPCL gave detailed training to the villagers for use of e-wallets for LPG cylinder sales.
In another programme organised by HPCL to promote cashless transaction for LPG consumers of Jammu, Ravinath Brothers, the HPCL distributers for Gandhi Nagar, carried out massive door to door campaign for cashless transactions for LPG. The method of using e-wallets like PAYTM for cashless transactions was explained to the residents.
