‘Housing for All’ scheme to provide shelter to all homeless people: Dy Mayor

JAMMU: The 16th Housing for All standing Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria was held in conference hall of JMC to discuss the scheme’s progress and way forward. The meeting was attended by the standing committee members Suriender Sharma, Suneet Raina, Pritam Singh, Shardha Kumari, Inderjeet Kour Randhawa and officers of concerned departments. The committee members discussed payment issues, the progress of beneficiaries’ homes, and the new household beneficiaries who have applied for the scheme. Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria, who is also the Chairman of the Housing for All Committee, has raised serious questions about the non-release of installments to the beneficiaries, and new cases still waiting to submit their cases The Deputy Mayor said that despite the assurance of the Housing & Urban Development Department, the installments of the beneficiaries have not been released so far, and those who have applied are still waiting for the release of the same. He said that the objective of the Housing for All scheme is to provide shelter to the homeless people and those living in slums, but the delay in the release of the installments has made the beneficiaries anxious.
The committee resolved to take swift action in order to reduce any delays in payment and to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their payments on time. Additionally, the committee noted that the construction of beneficiaries’ homes is to be completed as soon as possible. He said that the government should look into the matter and take necessary steps to ensure the release of installments to the beneficiaries as soon as possible. He said that the delay in the release of the installments is hampering the implementation of the scheme and the government should take steps to address the issue. Deputy Mayor Baldev Singh Billawaria said that through this scheme, we are providing access to safe, secure and affordable housing for those who are unable to afford it on their own. We are providing assistance to eligible families and individuals, who are currently living in unsafe and inadequate housing, to apply for and receive financial support to cover the cost of housing. We believe that this scheme will have a positive impact on the lives of many of our most vulnerable citizens.
The scheme will provide a safe and secure environment to live and raise families, while also helping to reduce poverty and inequality. Through this initiative, we are working to ensure that no one in our community is left behind in terms of access to basic needs. We are confident that this scheme will help improve the lives of those in need in our city and we look forward to seeing its positive effects in the coming months and years.
Some other important points were discussed in the meeting by the Chairman standing committee Baldev Singh Billawaria Deputy Mayor, Jammu such as status of parking in Bahu fort for which tender has been floated, water bodies in Kunjwani Chowk. Repairing/maintenance of JMC flats, encroachment of land Shishu Samadhi near Bahu fort encroached by the outsiders should be checked concerned the wing of JMC has been asked to look into the matter. The Deputy Mayor took all the issues discussed above into consideration and ensured the corporators that all the issues shall be taken up with the Government and the concerned department to resolve all the pending issues. The committee noted that it will continue to take necessary action to ensure that the scheme is successful and to ensure that everyone who is eligible for the scheme is served in an equitable manner. He urged the government to ensure the release of the installments to the beneficiaries as soon as possible, so that they can avail the benefits of the scheme and get the shelter they deserve.
