JAMMU: Department of Horticulture, Jammu, organised an awareness programme about Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in the orchard of Vidya Sagar at Marh Block, Jammu under the Scheme Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture 2015-16.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu, Kirtan Singh Raina, gave a detailed account on the benefits of adoption of IPM/ INM practises like maintenance of soil health and fertility, sustainable agriculture by the use of vermi-compost, bio fertilisers and also made the orchardist aware that by adoption of IPM practises insect pest and disease can be controlled by installing the pheromone traps, fly traps use of bio-pesticides such as Neem based products.
Sanjeev Karlupia, DL-SMS and Deeraj Bailam, HDO Jammu/ Marh highlighted various schemes of the department.
During the camp, Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu, also distributed the IPM/INM kits amongst the orchardist who participated in the camp which included Agrovita (plant growth promoter), sticky traps, delta traps, Trichoderma, funnel traps, fly traps and Neem extract.
