JAMMU: The 42nd Holy Chhari Yatra of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi commenced today from the renowned Shri Raghunath Ji Temple in Jammu, taking the form of a vibrant Shoba Yatra.
The journey was flagged off by Bal Saint Shri Sahil Ji Maharaj, who raised the saffron flag, marking the start of this auspicious event. The Chhari Puja is scheduled to take place at the Holy Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Darbar on October 3, coinciding with the first day of Navratri.
Following a ceremonial worship at the historic Shri Raghunath Ji Temple, the Holy Chhari and Akhand Jyoti embarked on their journey amidst a festive atmosphere. The procession, filled with devotion, swayed to the rhythmic beats of drums and the chants of “Maa’s Jai,” traversed through Raghunath Bazaar, Purani Mandi, and Rajtilak Road, making its way to the Kol Kandoli Temple in Nagrota. After paying homage to Maa Bhagwati there, the Yatra continued towards the religious city of Katra.
Upon reaching Katra, the Yatra was warmly welcomed by the Shiv Sena Katra unit. State party chief Manish Sahni expressed that on October 3, devotees would have the privilege of performing the Chhari Poojan and experiencing the holy Darshan of Maa Vaishno Devi. He emphasized his prayers for the prosperity, progress, peace, and mutual brotherhood of the nation and Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni also voiced his strong discontent regarding the lack of support from the administration during the Chhari Yatra, while extending appreciation to the Dharmarth Trust for their cooperation in facilitating the event.
The occasion saw Bal Sant Sahil Maharaj as the chief guest, with party national organizer Ashok Tiwari and Dharmarth Trust secretary Ashok Sharma attending as special guests, further adding to the significance of this holy journey.
