SRINAGAR: Security forces on Friday busted a module of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit by arresting four militants who were planning to carry out a major strike north Kashmir’s Baramulla District.
Acting on a tip off, security forces launched a search operation in Batapora area of Sopore town, 52 km from here, a police officer said.
He said during searches, four militants were nabbed and arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
The arrested militants, affiliated to Hizbul Mujahideen, were identified as Yawer Muzafar Bhat alias Yawar Tanga, Shoib-ul-Hamid alias Shoib Peetal, Ansar bin Altaf alias Ansar Dar and Riyaz Ahmad Dar, he said.
“Two pistols, two pistol magazines, 14 pistol rounds and two Chinese hand grenades were recovered from them,” he said.
The police officer said initial investigations showed that the apprehended militants were planning to carry out a major strike in north Kashmir. (PTI)
