HISI organizes free books distribution camp

JAMMU: Hira Lal Abrol, Chairman of the NGO ‘Healthy India Stronger India’ (HISI) organized a special free books distribution camp at Baba Basti Mohallah, Dogra Hall in Ward No 8, here on Saturday.
Free books and other educational material were distributed free of cost among a large section of students belonging to the marginalised sections of the society.
Parents of the students lauded the efforts of HISI Chairman Hira Lal Abrol n mitigating the sufferings of the society through its unique initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Hira Lal Abrol said that the prime motive of NGO is free of cost distribution of books among deserving students.
He said that it was felt by his NGO that a large number of school going children, who belong to poor families, have to shell out a substantial amount annually of the hard earned money of their parents to buy books and sometimes it becomes very difficult for them to buy these text books because of financial constraints.
He said “Healthy India Stronger India has taken care of most important item part of school i.e. books, which otherwise students have to arrange with great difficulty every year and although Government gives free books till 8th standard, yet lots of students remain deprived because of shortage of books in the market.”
Hira Lal Abrol said that HISI already distributes free education books and stationery items to the students of computer department of the training centre of the NGO.
“These students hail from humble backgrounds, ” he added.
“Healthy India Stronger India is running Free Training Centre for skill development of needy and poor children from BPL families. The training center offers 3 months, free courses in Basic Computers, Cutting & Tailoring Classes, Beautician Course, Vocal Music, Dance as well as Free Library for the students.
Nearly 6500 students have passed out, after successful completion of courses from this center. They have been placed in various organizations and some of them have even started their own ventures. It is heartening to see that they are earning a good livelihood for their families and are living a respectable life in society,” Hira Lal Abrol said.
In addition to training in skill development, HISI equips its students with moral values and life skills, he said adding that students are motivated to live a healthy life and to stay away from tobacco and drugs.
“HISI has the vision to uplift the place of women in the society and make them self-reliant. Girls and women trainees of the NGO are trained in ‘Self Defence’,” he said.
On this occasion, the Chairman Hira Lal Abrol gave a moral message to the children and ended the camp with the National Anthem.
Others present in the books distribution programme include Dalbir Singh and Ramneek Sharma.
