AMRITSAR: A seminar on new frontiers in Total Hip Replacement and problems and developments in total hip replacement was organised here at Amritsar.
Dr. Avtar Singh, Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar was Course Chairman in this seminar and Dr Harish Bhende from Mumbai, Ex President IAA, Dr Surya Narayan from Chennai, Prof Martin Zimmermann from Germany were guest faculty, who delivered lectures on the subject matter cited above.
Approx 100 orthopaedic surgeons from all over the country participated in this seminar.
Dr Avtar Singh said that researches were going on all over the world about total hip replacement and most of the problems have been resolved now. Now a days, hip joints lasts long, are durable and even for the whole life.
The new developments in this arena will surely benefit the patients who have to replace their joints in young age due to any reason.
Dr. Avtar Singh informed that people who are heavy drunker, are more vulnerable to hip joint pain and after that, they have to spend their life in pain and misery.
“In old hip replacement techniques, bone cut was bigger and at one time, only one hip was being replaced. Now, with the new technique, both the hips can be replaced at same time and that too with a little cut in bones. This is going to surely benefit the patients,” he added.
Moreover, these new hips are more durable and last for long time, even for whole life, he added.
