HelpAge Indian marks ‘World Elder Abuse Awareness Day’

JAMMU: MLC Vikram Randhawa on Wednesday released a nation-wide report of HelpAge India on ‘How India treats its Elderly’ at a function held here to mark the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
HelpAge India runs Agecare programmes throughout the country and advocates strongly for the cause of the elderly and fights for their rights.
In Jammu, HelpAge India is running a physiotherapy centre, mobile medicare unit for elders and conduct programmes on moral education in schools. The 19 city report aims to understand in-depth how elders are treated in the public space across the nation.
MLC Randhawa assured that he will support strongly for the cause of the elderly and fights for their rights. Randhawa also advised and facilitated the government in formation of policy related to the elderly.
