JAMMU: Justice Bansi Lal Bhat in the case of SWP 1769/2015 and MP 1/2015 filed jointly by five SPOs demanding regularisation, has allowed the petition and directed the respondents to consider their cases for regularisation within six weeks’ period.

The petitioners Rakesh Kumar son of Puran Chand, Abdul Gani son of Mir Hussain, Romesh Kumar son of Mohan Lal, Om Parkash son of Bali Ram and Kirpal Singh son of Shater Singh filed a joint petition claiming that they had been working shoulder to shoulder with the regular police and had taken part in the encounter with militants and earned appreciation but were aggrieved due to their non-absorption in the Police Department.

Justice Bhat held that since the government grants out of turn promotion to regular police force who show exemplary courage during encounters, the government in the case of SPOs have not considered them for absorption in the regular police.

The High Court in its order dated 11th June, 2015 directed the Government to consider their cases for regularisation.
