JAMMU: The Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) is elite sports unit and the shooting node of the Indian Army. It trains top army shooters for National and International Shooting Competitions. The shooters of AMU have won 437 medals in International competitions till date which includes Olympics, World, World Military, Asian and Commonwealth and brought accolades for Indian Army.
On 27th September 2014, Hav Chain Singh won individual bronze medal by scoring 1,164 out of 1,200 in 50m Rifle Three Position and 441.7 in final out of 490.5.
Hav Chain Singh made it possible through his hard work, selfless dedication and mentorship of AMU. He also crossed his personal best score from 1,162 to 1,164 out of 1,200 during the games.
Hav Chain Singh of Army Marksmanship Unit was enrolled in the army in March 2007 and was subsequently inducted in the Army Marksmanship Unit as a young blood shooter in February 2008. The individual had started his shooting career in the army in year 2008 and was subjected to technical, physical, mental and psychological training in a scientific manner which was provided by the support staff at Army Marksmanship Unit. The individual participated in various National / International level Shooting Competitions and has won one gold and three bronze medals at international level and 21 gold, six silver and seven bronze medals at national level to his credit.
This sterling performance brought laurels and fulfilled the Indian Army and Army Marksmanship Unit’s promise to the nation.

Randhir demanded immediately from the State Government Rs 50 lakh award, a suitable housing plot in Jammu and naming suitable road in the name of Chain Singh, a brave soldier of JAK LI who has brought honour to India.
Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal, G.M Saroori also congratulated Chain Singh. “Chain Singh has done India particularly J and K State proud through this achievement and your success is an example of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication. I wish you the very best for all future endeavors,” Saroori said.
