Haryana’s Somveer wins Panya Dangal title

JAMMU: Somveer of Haryana won the Fourth Panya Kesari Dangal title beating Benia Min of J and K Police in the main bout played at High School, Panya Dager (Akhnoor) in district Jammu.

Winner Somveer was awarded with Rs 41,000 cash prize by the Chief Guest, Member Legislative Assembly, Khour, Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat. Runners-up, Benia Min presented with Rs 30,000 cash prize by President of J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ram Paul Sharma.

Another first Malli bout was fought between Pravesh of Sonipat Sunil Haryana wherein, Pravesh emerged winner after 25 minutes long tough contest.

These two wresters were also given away Rs 41,000 and Rs 30,000 cash prizes by the organisers.

This Dangal was organised by Panj Peer Dangal Committee Panya in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association. In all, 70 bouts were decided in this day-long Dangal.

Prithvi Raj Sharma, Virender Badyal, Sushil Kumar Soodan and Jagan Nath Sharma were Guests of Honour. Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Deep Raj, Ram Kumar, Radhya Sham and Bittu Raina were among other prominent present.

The second main bout won by Pinder of Ajnala who defeated Tejbeer of Rohtak. Members and technical officials who helped for conduct of this event included Ram Paul Sharma, Raj Kumar, Mulk Raj Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Padam Kumar, Romesh Sharma, Naresh Fouji, Bali Ram Sharma, Kamal Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Om Parkash Verma, PR Sharma, Virender Badyal, Om Parkash Sharma, Mulk Raj sharma, Naib Sarpanch Raj Hussian, Kulbir Singh, Murli Dhar (Munna), Vijay Singh (Biju), Bittu Raina and Mohammad Fareed.

Other Results: Sandeep of Rohtak beat Akram of Bajrangi Akhara, Narinder of Ajnala beat Mohammad Sadiq of Domana, Mandeep of Rohtak beat Billu of Kot Bhawal, Babba of Domana Akhara beat Dinu of Kathua, Ajay Sharma of Udhampur beat Lallu of Bajrangi Akhara, Prem Verma of Jhiri beat Dalbir Singh of Mohore, Balwan Singh of Mahore beat Billa of Domana Akhara. Bouts played between Sonu of Rohtak and Bobari of Sarore and Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal and Akram of Chouadi ended in a draw.
