JAMMU: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Harsh Dev Singh on Monday Gheraoed several ministers while they were convening a meeting to review the functioning of School Education Department in Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi Districts.
In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh, Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi and Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda were present.
Accusing the ministers, Harsh alleged that corruption and nepotism is rampant in the School Education Department. He alleged that the Department of Education is indulging in large scale corruption especially in carrying out transfers. He categorically accused Chief Education Officer, Udhampur of ignoring all norms and procedures while effecting transfers. Urging upon the Education Minister to take cognisance of the large scale irregularities in Udhampur District, Singh called for a probe into the whole gamut of transfers.
Upon this, the Education Minister to hold enquiry to ascertain the facts and initiate action against the delinquents.
