Handle NIT issue with caution: Bhalla

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has expressed serious concern over handling of state affairs by BJP-PDP Govt. Handling sensitive issues with an assessment of future impact is always advantageous, however, even more important is decision-making and intervention well before an issue reaches a crescendo, he added. In today’s social media-driven world, every message, word, emotion and upload has a contributory effect on opinion.
The NIT events are just one example that have harmed the political and social fabric and given ideas to those who wish to see India burn, Bhalla maintained. Former Minister while addressing party workers at Dharap Kothy in Gandhi Nagar constituency condemned the NIT Srinagar incident and also other sensitive issues where Govt’s failure in handling such issues has put big question mark on the credibility of Govt and alleged that the day BJP-PDP alliance government took over the charge of State; the things have turned from bad to worse.”PDP-BJP government has again turned out to be a complete failure in all fronts, let it be the question of good governance or bringing peace to the Valley”, he added. Expressing concern over the rising trend of anti-national activities, Bhalla said government has utterly failed in maintaining law and order situation.
“The government’s previous tenure is marked by gross non-delivery, acknowledged failure to fulfill the promises given to the people of state and a betrayal of the people, particularly the poor, disadvantaged and the unemployed. This government till now has singularly lacked the vision to galvanise economic growth and has chosen instead to create a smokescreen making boastful claims,” said Bhalla.
The former minister cautioned people against the machinations of PDP and BJP, saying after failing on deliverance front their effort has been to divert the attention of people by raking up frivolous issues.
Bhalla exuded confidence that with the joining of people, belonging to various shades of life, the mass movement launched by Congress will realize the vision the towering leader stood for.
Former Minister said that BJP has betrayed the people of Jammu on all fronts despite the fact that people here provided them massive mandate during previous Assembly elections.
He pointed out that the BJP’s promised of getting Smart City project sanctioned for Jammu but till date it remained in doldrums as it failed to get Jammu included in the first list of 20 Smart Cities announced by the Centre Government. Bhalla lamented that BJP always tried to polarize the situation for its vested interests. “Development can’t be done with mere hollow slogans but there needs to be basic understanding of public issues,” Bhalla said.
