Guv to inspect Amarnath Yatra tracks on June 1

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra would undertake an aerial inspection of the twin tracks leading to the 3,880 metre high holy cave shrine of Amarnath on June 1, an official spokesperson said on Friday.
“The Governor, along with CEO of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board P K Tripathi, will undertake an aerial inspection of the entire Yatra track on June 1,” he said.
Vohra will hold meetings at Baltal and Nunwan base camps along the twin tracks on the same day to review all important matters relating to the 59-day Yatra, the spokesman said.
The Governor, who is also the chairman of SASB, chaired a high-level meeting to review the arrangements for the Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 2, he said.
Vohra reviewed the to-date position of the various ongoing arrangements for the Yatra, including the registration, provision of helipad services, grant of tent and shop permissions, arrangements for cleaning of camps, track cleaning, garbage collection and disposal and provision of Insurance cover to the registered Yatris, the spokesman said.
The Governor discussed about service providers and ponies, grant of permission to NGOs for setting up of langar, appointment and deployment of camp directors and provision of telecom services.
