JAMMU: Displaying excellent play throughout the tournament, Guru Football Club Jalandhar scripted a win in the final defeating RCF Kapurthala by 2-1 and lifted trophy of First Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Football Gold Cup Tournament organised by State Sports Club in collaboration with J&K Bank and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) at Mini Stadium Parade, here on Sunday.
In the closing ceremony, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State chief and Member Legislative Assembly sat Sharma was the Chief Guest and Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma was the Guest of Honour who gave away a cash proze of Rs 1 lakh and trophy tow winner Guru Football Club Jalandhar team and Rs 50,000 to the the runner up RCF Kapurthala.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat congratulated the winning team for having put up a sterling performance. He also lauded the initiative of Organizing Committee for organizing such a tournament in the name of Sher-i-Duggar Pt. Prem Nath Dogra who himself was a sportsman and an avid football player. Jugal Kishore expressed his great satisfaction regarding the good organization of the tournament and congratulated the Organizing Committee under the leadership of MLA Rajesh Gupta. Jugal also congratulated the teams from Jammu who also fought gallantry and put up good performances. He stressed on the need to provide them better coaching facilities to come up to the national levels.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta who was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee along with Rakesh Khanna President/ Organisor and Naresh Dogra welcomed the dignitaries by presenting them mementoes.
The members of the Organising Committee present on the occasion were Naresh Dogra General Secretary, Rakesh Khanna President, Mohan Lal, Fietous Sohtra, Gagan Kumar, Arun Jasrotia, S.M Gill, Bharat Bushan and Vikram Singh.
