Gupta demands early relief to flood affected families

KATHUA: Subash Chander Gupta former MLC and President District Congress Committee, Kathua visited the flood affected areas of District Kathua and took stock of the situation on the ground.
Gupta showed serious concern over the heavy loss due to the recent heavy rain and flash floods. After visiting the affected areas, Gupta said that the heavy rain and floods caused havoc to the physical infrastructure including PDD, roads which has hampered the PHE Department water supply in some areas. Electric poles and transformers of PDD Department got damaged affecting the power supply. Many roads leading to various villages also got damaged causing great inconvenience to the inhabitants of these areas. In addition to this, there is a severe loss to the crops, residential houses, school building etc. he said adding that the situation is really very grim and the affected people required all sorts of help from government including temporary shelter, ration, kerosene oil etc.
Gupta urged upon the Govt. to take immediate steps for providing relief to the affected families and also stressed upon the Flood Control Department for immediate restoration of damaged Bandhs so that any further loss to the property, crop and agriculture land can be averted. Gupta requested the government to provide all sorts of help to restore the damaged infrastructure and to assess the loss of crops and residential houses, so that the financial assistance to the affected families can be provided without any further delay.
