Guest lecture on software development held

KATHUA: Department of Computer Science and IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu arranged a guest lecture on ‘Software Development Process in Industry’ for the students of MCA. Avinash Sharma, Senior Manager, Morgan Stanley, Mumbai was invited as the Resource Person. He is having more than ten years of experience in IT industry. The expert made students aware of the current Software Development Process being followed in the industry. He highlighted the problem of unemployment of the students passing out from academia. A large proportion of the students completing their academics are not skilled enough to be employed in the industry. This gap is further widening due to the fast moving pace of industry.
He suggested various ideas to the students what they can do in their academics to match these skills and make themselves ready for the industry. He also inspired students to never compromise with their goals and always dream high. He focused on the goal setting in accomplishing big things in life and discussed the techniques to build momentum towards their goals and achieve full potential in life.
The event was organised under the guidance of Professor Rajni Kant, Rector, Kathua Campus. He appreciated the efforts of the faculty members and said that such kind of information oriented programmes should be organised at regular intervals to give valuable knowledge to the students. He enlightened the students with the fact that this knowledge will be beneficial for them in their future endeavours. He assured that every possible support will be extended to the department to arrange the academic activities like workshops and conferences to strengthen Industry-Academia relations. Further he assured the students that the experts from industry will be approached to give them exposure and practical knowledge appertaining to the latest technologies, real working environment and functioning of the industry.
Earlier Sourabh Shastri, Incharge Head of the Department welcomed the expert to the department. He thanked him for enlightening the students with his vast and valuable knowledge. He assured that the department will keep on organising such academic events in future also. During the session, Amit Sharma, Ajay Lakhnotra, Riti Prakash Singh Katal, Arun Singh Bhadwal and Amardeep Sharma were also present.
