Govt vehicles put on tracking system

UDHAMPUR: District administration, Udhampur, has initiated installation of vehicle tracking system in all government vehicles including official vehicles, load carriers, heavy vehicles, ambulances and other machinery including earth excavators for better surveillance and monitoring.
In Phase-I 16 vehicles have been fitted with the Vehicle Tracking System enabling their movement and location recording online. These vehicles include official vehicles of District Development Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Addl Deputy Commissioner, XEn PWD, XEn PMGSY, XEn EM and RE, XEn STD, XEn REW, PO DPAP, District Soil Conservation Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, XEn PHE, XEn I and FC, District Sheep Husbandry Officer and CEO Municipal Council. The vehicle tracking system will help generate Digital Tour Diary of officers apart from enabling safety of government vehicles. In Phase-II all ambulances, trucks and other load carriers will be put to VTS followed by other government and hired vehicles. The vehicle tracking system has been launched under District Innovation Fund as a part of Digital India Programme. The VTS project has been implemented by a team of officers including Addl DC Angrez Singh Rana, DIO NIC Anil Sharma and ARTO Rajesh Gupta under supervision of District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary. The project will further cover the leftover vehicles during current calendar year.
