Govt to ensure proper functioning of offices during move period:  Chander Prakash

JAMMU: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash on Saturday said that the government will take special care to ensure proper functioning of all Jammu offices during the six month stay of Durbar move in Srinagar.

He asked the Industries and Commerce Department to make prompt service delivery as bench mark and adopt a pragmatic approach in achieving the desired targets.

The Minister was speaking at a meeting attended by Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Financial Commissioner I&C, Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu, and other senior officers.

The minister stressed that the concerned officers should ensure that there are no undue delays and the stakeholders do not face any inconvenience during the Durbar move and all the offices are fully functional. Thrust should be on improving the service delivery mechanism and providing prompt services should be the benchmark, the Minister maintained.

He said that targets will be assigned to the concerned officers and regular reviews will be held to assess the achievements. “The officers with lackadaisical attitude will have to face the music as no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to public convenience”, the Minister maintained. Minister said that team work and dedicated efforts are required for achieving the desired results on ground.

The Minister asked the officers to lay special focus on bringing in the rural areas under the ambit of schemes of the department as small enterprises can play a big role in industrial growth. The minister exhorted upon the officers to work in synergy   for achieving tangible results. He said that industrial growth holds the key to economic development of the state and officers associated with this sector are entrusted with the job of facilitating and promoting the interest of the industrialists and common man.

Highlighting the objectives under  Ease of Doing Business, the minister said that all possibilities  will be explored to delegate powers to General Managers of District Industrial Centres to  facilitate the entrepreneurs to do their business in a totally hassle free manner.

Minister reiterated government’s resolve to evolve a    transparent and accountable administrative system at all levels. He said that government will do everything to create a favourable atmosphere for officers to work.
