JAMMU: Senior BJP leader and the member Central Social Welfare Board Kuldeep Sharma on Monday alleged that the handicapped people of the State have been continuously striving but the State Government is not taking any genuine cognisance.
Addressing the media here on Monday, Kuldeep drew the attention of the State High Court’s decision on 17th March while considering the public litigation of handicaped.
“The High Court after listening to the litigation of Handicap Association Akhnoor ordered to enhance the pension up to Rs 1,000,” he said adding that the previous National Conference-Congress Government misguided the Court and reported Rs 500 as a pension to a handicapped persons.
He urged the government to open rehabilitation centers and vocational training centers in every district of the State so that the handicapped people can survive economically.
Moreover, he demanded two head offices in the State at regional level and the framed Handicap Commission after Court’s orders should be functional as soon as possible.
Sharma also demanded 10 per cent reservation in government jobs for the handicapped persons.
Others present in the press conference were Susheel Kumar, Mahinder Kumar, Prof. Sultan, Sham Lal, Mohammad, Sukhviner Singh and Daljeet Singh.
