Govt officials among 77 Challaned for traffic violations

REASI: Tightening the noose against traffic violators to avoid accidents and ensure safety of the passengers in the district, District Magistrate Reasi, Ravinder Kumar on Wednesday challaned 77 traffic offenders including many Govt officials.
As per the details, District Magistrate along with Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Tahir Sajad Bhat, ARTO Reasi Diksha Bamba, Tehsildar HQ(A) Rajesh Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Reasi, SHO Reasi today laid down Nakkas at different locations in the district. The impetus was aimed at making mass awareness among all stake holders particularly passenger vehicle operators for strict compliance of Motor Vehicle/Traffic rules and regulations.
District Magistrate has personally checked various vehicles and challenged/compounded the traffic violators on various grounds. About 45 persons were challaned by ARTO and 32 by SHO Reasi including one District Officer, one Patwari, Officers of Geological mining Department, two lawyers, one ZEO, two bank managers, two Prosecution Officers were challaned and compounded on the spot for various traffic violations. Moreover, one water tanker, one Tata Safari, one Hyudai i 10 and two four wheelers were also seized for traffic violations.
District magistrate has instructed all the field officers including ARTO, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars in the District for regular checking of traffic violations in the District and book the frequent violators under relevant laws. All violators were asked to wear helmets & seat belts to minimize loss of lives in case of any accidents.
Ravinder Kumar further directed all concerned to ensure that all public transport drivers must wear prescribed uniform and identity cards and cancel the license and registration of vehicle in case of frequent violators.
