Govt lays down slabs for permission of private educational institutions

JAMMU: The Government on Friday accorded sanction to the adoption of slabs of duration for the grant of renewal of permission in favour of private un-aided institutions / colleges functioning in the State.
As per the order issued here today, colleges established / functioning since 25 years or more would be renewed after 10 years, colleges established /functioning since 15 years or more would be renewed after 07 years, colleges established / functioning since 10 years or more would be renewed after 05 years and colleges established/ functioning since 05 years or more would be renewed after 03 years.
The order says that the Government reserves the right to withdraw the permission at any time during the period if it is found by the competent authority that the institute has failed to perform as per the provisions of SRO-339 of 2005 and the norms and standards laid down therein, without assigning any reasons thereof.
The affiliating University shall ensure that all the requirements as laid down in their statutes for affiliation alongwith the removal of deficiencies are fulfilled by the concerned institutes as usual, before the affiliation is granted, the order reads.
