JAMMU: Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) strongly criticised PDP-BJP Coalition Government for acute ration scarcity in Jammu province. While addressing the media persons here today, State President, Rajesh Kesri said the government, which claims taking steps for welfare of people, has miserably failed to ensure proper supply of Atta, rice and sugar in the ration depots for the last so many months.
Expressing concern over the irregular supply of ration, Kesri asked the government to streamline the department and take action against staff responsible for such a situation.
The poor sections of society, especially those living below poverty line, are totally dependent on public distribution system for ration as they cannot afford to buy rice, Atta, sugar etc, from open market, he added.
Kesri also asked the government to keep adequate stocks of ration items, kerosene and cooking gas etc at remote and hilly areas for use during winter season when roads get blocked due to snowfall and heavy rains.
He further appealed to the government to take effective measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to people during the winter season.
“Ever since PDP-BJP formed the Coalition Government in the state, people are not being distributed ration as per the prescribed scale”, he said.
He also said salaries and perks of legislators have been doubled by this government but poor are not even being paid adequate ration. He said government depots in the locality are running dry as people have not been paid ration for the last more than three months. “Women are finding it difficult to run their kitchen when they are getting only 600 grams of sugar per month for a family of 6 or say 8 members”, he said.
“This government should increase the ration quota otherwise we will launch indefinite struggle against the present dispensation”, he added.
