Slams Mehbooba for her remarks against Gujarat Model of development

MUMBAI: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday welcomed the decision taken by J&K government to replace Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah embossed on one side of Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal Scheme with the National Emblem of Government of India and demanded that all the government institutions should be named after martyrs and social reformers. Speaking on the sidelines of a programme in Mumbai, Kavinder said that there is no rationale behind naming Agriculture University and Police Academy in the name of Sheikh Abdullah as these institutions should be named after those valiant personalities who had sacrificed their lives for the nation by giving supreme sacrifices.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said that already J&K government has started a campaign under which government schools are named after those personalities who have dedicated their lives for the national interest.
He demanded that third Tawi Bridge in Gujjar Nagar, Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University and Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur should be given names of the martyrs or social reformers.
The senior BJP functionary also condemned Mehbooba Mufti for her remark against the Gujarat Model of development. He said that PDP leader should first go through the details of the Gujarat Model which has garnered praise from different quarters in India and abroad. Kavinder said that there are no takers of Mehbooba’s propaganda against BJP but still she is indulging in the same and unfounded criticism of Gujarat Model is part of the same series of PDP leader’s abhorrent campaign against BJP.
He said that PDP leader is toeing a communal line to satiate her vested political interests which is not done and she should shun this kind of politics as the same can prove to be detrimental for the people of J&K. Kavinder asked Mehbooba and her ilk to stop thinking that the Mughals were their ancestors as Aurangzeb has converted the people of Kashmir into Muslims otherwise there is no connection of people of Kashmir with the invaders. He advised Mehbooba to change her anti-India stance and stop instigating people in Kashmir because this will do no good to the people as well as her party.
