Govt ignoring woes of border residents: PDP

 

BISHNAH: Hundreds of activists of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of party candidate for Bishnah Assembly segment, F.C Bhagat on Thursday staged a massive demonstration at Bishnah to lodge protest against failure of the State Government to mitigate miseries of the border residents.
The activists assembled outside Teshildar’s Office at Main Bazaar Bishnah and raised slogans against the government. They also blocked road for several hours. Besides PDP activists, hundreds of local people included some displaced persons from border areas also participated in the protest rally.
They alleged that the State Government has adopted casual approach towards ever increasing hardship of the border residents. PDP activists regretted that except lip service nothing has been done so to minimise woes of the border residents.
Addressing the agitating people, Bhagat regretted that killing of innocent people on border is going on unabated. He lamented that everyday bullets from across the border are killing residents of border areas but state government has failed to provide safer shelters to these hapless people.
He further lambasted Coalition Government headed by Omar Abdullah for its failure to mitigate miseries of the border residents. He observed that except photo sessions for cheap publicity nothing concrete has been done on the ground to provide relief to the people who have been bearing the brunt of skirmishes on the borders.
Bhagat assured the people that PDP would effectively take up their problems before the authorities and assured them that PDP would launch an agitation for the solution of the problems faced by the border residents. He said that today’s protest was first step in this direction.
Others who participated in the protest include Chatter Singh Saini, S.P Charak, Yashpal Bhagat, Tarsem Saini, Kalmosh Mottan, Bablu Sharma , Surinder Sharma and Nisha Bhagat.
