JAMMU: Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand urged upon the government to ensure proper shelter, ration, drinking water, power supply, hygiene and sanitation, medical and other facilities for the border migrants who are being asked to shift themselves at safer places by the government in view of the prevailing situation.
This was stated by former Dy Chief Minister while he was touring the extreme border villages of Khour Block of Jammu District. He said that the district administration has ordered for shifting of civil population within the radius of 10 Kms from the border/LoC and the people have started migrate but it is not clear where they have to go where they live. He suggested that these people should not be put in schools because it will affect the education of the children. Therefore, government should provide alternate accommodation in camps, with proper and adequate basic facilities on urgent basis. He urged upon the government to provide proper shelter with all civic facilities, besides setting up of free Langers in camps till proper arrangement is done. He assured the people and the administration of all sorts of co-operation in this situation.
