JAMMU: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta assured that government is actively considering the constitution of Minority Commission in the State and considering other problems of the Sikh community especially for those living in Kashmir Valley.
Speaker was speaking in the 17th Annual Conference organised by Kashmir Sikh Sangat, here on Friday.
He appreciated the activities of the organisation for social uplift and development of society. He also lauded the contribution of awardees in their respective fields for the benefit of society.
Earlier, the organisation felicitated the members of community who have shown excellence in their respective fields. Life time achievement award was conferred to Ujager Singh (Retd) DC for his selfless and visionary service to the community.
Awards were also given to the personalities who had shown excellence in different fields viz. sports, education, medical services etc. Speakers also raised the demand of implementation of Minority Commission in J and K State.
Speaking on the occasion, Member Legislative Council, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa strongly endorsed the demand of Minority Commission and asked the community to eradicate bad customs and evils from the society for overall welfare and development of the State. The persons who spoke on the occasion included Prof. Inder Singh, Tejwant Singh, Manjeet Singh, Dr. Danwant Singh, Sewa Singh (President) and Babu Singh (General Secretary).
