Govt committed to protect rights of people: Priya

UDHAMPUR: The two days National Conference organised by English Department, Government Degree College, Udhampur on the theme ‘Routing the Rootless Exploring the Literatures of the Indigenous Cultures’ concluded on Saturday.

Minister of State for Education and Technical Education and Tourism, Priya Sethi was the Chief Guest on valedictory function whereas Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

The function commenced with lighting the lamp by the chief guest which was followed by Saraswati Vandana presented by the College students.

While addressing the Conference, Priya Sethi said despite diverse cultures across the globe, the humanity share common challenges related to the protection of their rights. She said government is committed to protect the rights of the people and improve the lifestyle of the people.

She said that the state is bestowed with immense natural beauty and an array of diverse cultures which needs to be promoted as well as conserved. She commended the college administration to organize such type of conference and congratulated the participants besides wished them good luck for their bright future.

While speaking on the occasion, MLA, Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta, complimented the College, Administration  to take an initiatives for organizing  this National level event and also congratulated the  Scholars , Academicians and participants who participated in two day National Conference.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Arvind Sharma, Chief Education Officer, J.R Bhardwaj ASP, Faisal Quereshi, Prof, Pankaj Sharma, organizing secretaries, Dr. Rimpy Bawa, Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Convenor, Kamaldeep Kaur, Prof, Anuradha Kalsi and district officers of various departments, Principals of different colleges, staff members and students of the host college were present on the occasion.
