New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Saturday that his government has boosted employment opportunities in traditional as well as emerging sectors like renewable energy, defence industry and automation.

He made the remarks as he distributed appointment letters to nearly 51,000 youths recruited in different government departments.

JAMMU: In a momentous event held at Gulshan Ground, here as part of Rozgar Mela held across country, Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Development of North Eastern Region, B.L. Verma, on Saturday distributed more than 314 job appointment letters across various departments to youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
Member of Parliament (Lok Shaba), Jugal Kishore Sharma; Member of Parliament (Rajya Shaba), Gulam Ali Khatana; Chairman, District Development Council, Jammu, Bharat Bhushan; JMC Mayor, Rajinder Sharma and other senior officers of J&K Administration were also present on the occasion. This ceremony, hosted at 37 locations across the country, represents a significant stride toward realizing the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision, fortifying youth empowerment. Notably, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi virtually addressed Rozgar Mela, enhancing employment prospects as 51,000 appointment letters were distributed during the event, which included 21 percent women, thus bolstering the concept of Women Empowerment.
“Till now, lakhs of youth have been given appointment letters for government jobs. Today, more than 50,000 youth have been given government jobs. There is some time in Diwali, but this occasion is no less than Diwali for the families of the receivers of 50,000 appointment letters”, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi said.
While addressing the gathering, B.L Verma said that today 314 young individuals in Jammu and Kashmir have received their appointment letters and I extend my warm wishes to their families.
He added that whether it’s the youth of Jammu and Kashmir or entire nation, everyone places their trust in the Prime Minister. “We have created employment opportunities across various sectors, in addition to government jobs”, he said.

He said his government and states ruled by the BJP and its allies have been holding ‘Rozgar Mela’ since October last year, and lakhs of youngsters have been given appointment letters so far.
“Rozgar Mela underscores our government’s commitment to the youth,” he said, addressing the recruits through a virtual event.
“Today, India is equipping its youth with skills and education to harness emerging opportunities. India’s trajectory and the pace of its progress are generating new employment prospects across all sectors,” he said.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also Incharge DoPT, in his welcome remarks, said women recruitment has doubled since 2014 in government jobs at different levels.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, “Compared to just around 6-6.25% fresh Women recruitments in the years preceding 2014, their numbers have more than doubled to 12-13% in the last more than nine years of Prime Minister Modi”.
The Minister said, Prime Minister Narenda Modi has empowered the Nari Shakti in every sector. He said, a unique feature of the 10th Rozgar Mela is that Women represent 21% of more than 50,000 fresh appointees. Overall, out of the over 6.48 lakh appointees in the ten Rozgar Melas held during the last one year, more than 1.1 lakh are Women employees, representing 17% of the total fresh recruitments.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Railways accounts for a majority of the fresh appointees during the 10th Rozgar Mela. Railway is an important part of our lives for more than 130 crore people of the country. Indian Railways has received focused attention in the last more than nine years of the present Government headed by PM Modi, he said. In the last nine years railway track length has nearly doubled to 25,000 km, compared to 14,985 km length laid during 65 years since Independence. Compared to 4,418 bridges and underpasses constructed till 2014, their number today stands at 10,868,” he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, during PM Modi’s tenure major works have been completed to bring the Kashmir Valley on the rail map. The world’s tallest rail bridge in Reasi district of J&K had also been built as part of this project, he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh said PM Modi has upgraded Indian Railways with a fleet of more than 34 most modern high-speed Vande Bharat trains and the Namo Bharat RRTS was inaugurated by PM Modi this month. Amrit Bharat stations, equipped with modern facilities and amenities, have also been added to make train travel an exhilarating experience. Dr Jitendra Singh said, railway safety has also vastly improved during the tenure of PM Modi. Compared to an average of 171 accidents annually till 2014, this figure has come down sharply to 71,” he said.
