Governor to inaugurate JK Science Congress today

JAMMU: Governor N.N Vohra would inaugurate the three-day-long 12th JK Science Congress at the University of Jammu on 2nd March, 2017 in the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Around 800 senior faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students from various reputed Research Institutes, Universities and Colleges of the State and the of country have confirmed their participation in the event.
This was disclosed by Prof Geeta Sumbali, Dean of the Life Sciences and the Organizing Secretary, 12th JK Science Congress, University of Jammu, here on Wednesday.
“The University is hosting the three-day 12th JK Science Congress in collaboration with J&K State Science, Technology and Innovation Council. The Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the University of Jammu, will inaugurate the event,” she said informing that Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Education, J&K would be the Guest of Honour while Prof Akhilesh Tyagi, JC Bose National Fellow, University of Delhi and former Director, National Institute of Genome Research, shall deliver the keynote address. Prof R.D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu shall preside over the inaugural function. Sajad Gani Lone, Minister for Social Welfare, ARI and Trainings, Science and Technology would be the Chief Guest for the Valedictory function on 4th March, 2017.
Earlier, Prof R.D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, while expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements for this prestigious and mega academic event, conveyed his best wishes to the Organizing Secretary and her team for the successful organization of the Science Congress.
These special invitees who would deliver special lectures during the Science Congress include Dr. John A Haines, World Health Organisation, Geneva, Dr. Susheel Kumar Sharma, Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, Prof. G.V.R Prasad, Department of Geology, CAS, University of Delhi, Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Department of Zoology, Patna University, Dr. Surinder Singh, Director, National Institute of Biologicals, Dr. Asit K Chakraborti, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) and others.
