SRINAGAR: Governor, N.N Vohra and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah have greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and prayed for their well-being and prosperity.
In his message of felicitations, the Governor hoped that this festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, tranquility and the glorious pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries past.
The Governor hoped that the severe hardships undergone by the people consequent to colossal damage caused by the recent floods would soon be over and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In his message on Eid-ul-Azha, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah appealed to the people to celebrate Eid with simplicity keeping in mind the plight of sufferers of devastating floods which claimed precious human lives, inflicted unprecedented losses to economy, damaged public infrastructure, residential houses, orchards, fields, etc in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister sought the wholehearted support of people to flood survivors. “Let us dedicate this year’s Eid-ul-Azha to the flood sufferers and extend all help to them for their rehabilitation and welfare”, he said and added that supporting, needy and sufferers of calamities, is the essence of holy occasions like Eid.
Omar prayed for the well-being of the people and the State.
Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra and the Council of Ministers also extended greetings to the people of the state especially to Muslim brethren on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In a joint felicitation message, they maintained that the occasion reminds us our duty towards sacrifice. They said that we have to lend our helping hand towards needy. They hoped that the festival would be harbinger of peace and prosperity and strengthened the bonds of amity and brotherhood among different sections of Society.
Director General of police (DGP) K. Rajendra Kumar greeted people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The DGP has also extended Eid greetings to all ranks of JKP on the occasion.
Expressing hope that the festival would bring joy and happiness among all the sections of society, the DGP said that recent flood devastated large number of families in the State and the situation reminds us to lend helping hand to the deserving brethren. In the greeting message, Rajendra has wished that the occasion would usher an era of prosperity. The festival reminds us to share our joys and happiness with the destitute son the occasion. We should also help the families of martyrs, who had laid down their precious lives for our future, said Rajendra.
