JAMMU: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who was admitted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, passed away this morning. He was 79.
Governor N.N. Vohra expressed grief over the untimely passing on of J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohamad Sayeed.
In a condolence message the Governor has conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Recalling his long association with Mufti Sahib, the Governor described him as a senior seasoned politician and an astute administrator who was deeply committed to restoring the State to sustained peace and normalcy and carrying it forward to achieve rapid growth and development on all fronts. The Governor observed that the gap created by Mufti’s demise in the polity of the State would not be easy to fill.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Abdul Majeed Padder, Abdul Majeed Paddar, Ch Zulfkar Ali and Pawan Kumar Gupta have expressed deep shock and grief over the sad demise of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
In his condolence messages, they said that Mufti’s demise leaves a huge void in the nation particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, where his commendable leadership had a major impact on people’s lives.
Ch Zulfkar Ali termed Mufti as a visionary and a sincere person, who always concerned for the well being and welfare of all paticularlly the weaker sections of the society. He termed his demise as an irreparable loss for the entire nation and the state.
Ganga said that state has lost a great leader whose contribution to the state will always be remembered.
“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a visionary leader who was committed for the development and welfare of people of the state”, he added.
”The contribution of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to Jammu and Kashmir and the Nation during long years of public service will always be remembered”, Veeri said and added that he was known for his love for common masses, especially the underprivileged.
Describing death of the Mufti Mohammad Sayed as a great loss to the nation, Bukhari said that State has lost an astute and visionary leader. He said that the huge gap created by the death of this great leader is impossible to fill.
Calling him a towering leader, visionary statesman, and embodiment of secularism, Paddar said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has contributed a lot for the upliftment and welfare of people, besides development and prosperity of nation throughout his decades old political career.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court led by Chief Justice, N. Paul Vasanthakumar has expressed heartfelt grief on the sad demise of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
In a condolence message, it said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was known for his administrative skills. He carved out a place for himself in the history of not only the state of Jammu and Kashmir but the country as a whole. His demise has created a great vacuum, which is difficult to be filled up. It has caused an irreparable loss to the entire populace of the country. May God give peace to his soul and courage to the family members to bear this huge loss.
A condolence meeting was held at Pragati Bhawan, Jammu chaired by Dr Nirmal Gupta, Chairperson J and K State Social Welfare Board to condole the sad demise of Chief Minister of J and K, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
Dr. Gupta expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and paid tributes to the departed soul. She termed Mufti as a visionary and a sincere person, who was always concerned for well being and welfare of the weaker sections of the society. She termed his demise as an irreparable loss for the entire State, in general and the Social Welfare Board, in particular.
