Jammu: On the occasion of Wildlife Week, Wildlife Conservation Fund (WCF) in association with Green Citizens’ Council-Jammu launched Go Green Jammu, an initiative to protect and conserve the biodiversity of Jammu. The event was endorsed by Sanctuary Asia, a leading wildlife magazine. The event was hosted by Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Sainik Colony, Jammu as Environmental Education Outreach Partners (EEOP) of Wildlife Conservation Fund in Jammu Region. On the occasion the campaign ‘Save Hangul-Save Tiger’, a joint project and campaign of Wildlife Conservation Fund and Sanctuary Asia was officially launched in the Jammu region.
The event was presided over by Upender Pachnanda, retired IFS and Convener, Green Citizens’ Council, Jammu, Nadeem Qadri, an Environmental Lawyer and Executive Director, WCF and Dr. Vikram Handa, Director, Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
The school kids were made aware how they can make use of the existing Wildlife laws in the country to ensure poaching and harm caused to the animals is reduced to the minimal level. One Hour, digital Audio Visual presentation under “Kids for Tiger” a Sanctuary Tiger Programme was showcased to the students.
The Youth Nature Club was also formed at the school which includes a students’ group which will carry on the Green activities in Jammu.
