GMC molestation case; Leh to remain shut today

LEH: All business establishments in Leh will remain completely shut for the whole day on Saturday in protest against the alleged molestation of a Ladakhi girl by Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine of Government Medical College Jammu last month.
This was decided in a meeting called by Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Youth Wing here on Friday which was attended by leaders of Anjuman Immamia and Anjuman Mon-ul- Islam youth wings besides social, political and trade organisations. The meeting unanimously condemned the incident and demanded strong action against the culprit.
President LBA Youth Wing, Rinchen Namgyal while condemning the incident sought cooperation from all sections of the society to demand for justice and exemplary punishment to the culprit so that such cases are not repeated in future.
President Anjuman Immamia, Youth Wing, Leh, Muzaffar Hussein and General Secretary Mon-Ul- Islam Youth Wing, Leh, Iftiqar urged Ladakhis to remain united so that no influential individual dares to shield the culprit. Representative of BJP Youth and Councillor Khaltse Lobzang Sherap also spoke on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that all political parties of Leh last week had jointly condemned the incident and demanded expulsion of the accused and sought justice for the victim.
Leaders of BJP, District Congress Committee, PDP and New Ladakh Movement (NLM) had taken out a protest rally on 31st December from Leh Bazaar to Leh Polo Ground where an an effigy of the accused Dr. Bhupesh Khajuria was burnt and exemplary punishment to the culprit was demanded.
