GMC Jammu conducts first ‘Basic Resuscitation Course’

JAMMU: Continuing with the endeavour to improve the academics and trainings, the Department of Anaesthesia & Critical Care, GMC Jammu orgainsed ‘Basic Resuscitation Course (BRC) for the first time.
The course was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal & Dean, GMC, Jammu. She said that training of all the staff members and students in BRC is a necessity and everyone has to be aware of the critical time we have available with us while facing critical life saving situations like Cardiac arrest, drowning, fires & burns, choking etc.
She said that that ultimate aim to see the common people getting trained in Basic resuscitation skills so that as first responders they are able to contribute in saving lives in times of crisis.
She added that it will be made compulsory for interns and PG’s before they are given course completion certificates. Dr. Anju Jamwal HoD Anaesthesia, the course chairperson, said that the course curriculum has been designed at par with BLS course. She said that the course will be a regular feature and will be conducted on first and 3rd saturday of every month.
Dr. Renu Wakhloo was the nodal officer for the course and Dr. Abdul Ghani the convenor of the Course.
The first batch of trainees comprised of 15 Faculty members & PGs. The function was attended by HoDs, Faculty and staff.
