Give one member of family as volunteer to eradicate drug menace: Team Jammu

JAMMU: To involve general public in its campaign against drug menace, Team Jammu on Sunday organised a public awareness function at JK Colony, Top Paloura, here in which hundreds of local people including large number of women participated and aired their respective views.
Chairman of the Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal presided over the function in which Superintendent of Police, City North, Vinod Kumar was Chief Guest and DySP Hqrs, Jammu, Sugandha Mahajan was Guest of Honour. The function also marked paying floral tributes to Uri Martyrs as well as to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti and late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their Birth Anniversaries.
Jamwal sought support of the every section of the society to eradicate this menace. He said that drug addiction is the biggest challenge before the society today because it is a slow poison which is claiming lives of the youth and spoiling our younger generation. He appealed to the city residents to give one member of a family as volunteer with Team Jammu to eradicate increasing drug menace.
Exhorting the youth to single out those who are responsible for spreading this menace in Jammu region, Jamwal maintained that it was high-time to expose those who, for some petty financial benefits, are playing with the lives of the younger generation.
SP City North, Vinod Kumar called upon the parents to keep a strict watch on the activities of their children, he said that first responsibility is on the family to keep a check on their children. DySP Hqrs, Sugandha Mahajan, asserted the women folk to come forward and help society to curb this menace, which is taking the youth to a dark end.
Congratulating the people of JK Colony especially the women for their large participation, she said that if women including college girls, house wives and working women come forward in the awareness campaign against drug abuse, it will be a great help for police and civil administration to single out those selling drugs and can save many precious lives.
