Give a relook

The recent visit of high-level Home Ministry team to the borders of Jammu and Kashmir to review security set up all along the Line of Control and International Borders holds importance especially after the two major militants’ attacks in Dinanagar Police Station and Pathankot Air Force Base. Despite all the security apparatus on these two borders still one cannot rule out a fool proof system to check the infiltration bids by Pakistan trained and supported militants.  Of late there has been an increase in cross- border incidents with militants targeting security men especially policemen. Now with a strong security apparatus on the borders Pakistan must be finding it difficult to continue with the export of terror but has not desisted from its nefarious designs. All that soft gestures by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have not been able to get the much needed returns in terms of curbing these activities. On the contrary Pakistan has been denying its role in any form.  It appears that Pakistan is hell bent upon testing India’s resilience. Jammu and Kashmir Police has lately launched a crackdown on radical youth in South Kashmir, the erstwhile hotbed of militancy. The recent attack on police personnel is reflection of militants’ stand of more assaults on those who work against the interest of Kashmiriyat.  Under this changing strategy, we too also have to change and enhance retaliatory capacity so that there can be some check on Pakistan-aided militancy and side by side check human as well as property losses especially in the border areas. Militants have been striking at will  and  on Monday the famous tourist spot in Jammu region Patnitop, which has been seeing good tourist flow this season has come under militant attack. The target of attack has been a bus carrying police and CRPF men.  There is a need for holistic approach to contain  terror attack especially when the annual Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin next month and the State is having a good tourist season. There is a need to revamp the policy to contain trans-border terror.
