Ghulam Rasool re-elected NGEU President

JAMMU: Ghulam Rasool Mir was reelected as President of Civil Secretariat Non Gazetted Employees Union (NGEU) for second term here on Thursday.
He defeated Rouf Ahmad by a margin of 335 votes. Hailing from Anderhama, Kupwara, Mir is known for his affable and employee friendly attitude. He started his career as junior assistant and by dint of hard work rose to the position of Office Superintendent.
The results of elections were declared by Returning Officer, Zubair Ahmad, Special Secretary to Government Home Department. Ghulam Rasool Mir got 670 votes while as his rival Rouf Ahmed Bhat got 335 votes. Suresh Bedi was elected as Vice President, while as Thanna Ji Bhat was elected General Secretary. Muzahhar Nabi Wani was elected as Secretary while as Parveez Ahmed Khan and Kulbir Singh were elected as Publicity Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Ghulam Rasool’s group bagged all the 20 positions of members of the Union by defeating their nearest rivals by convincing margins.
Addressing the supporters, Ghulam Rasool Mir assured the employees that their team will work with full dedication for the betterment of the employees.
Pertinently, the Civil Secretariat (Non Gazetted) Employees Union elections were held on Wednesday March 16, 2017 under stick vigil by the observers and Returning Officers appointed by the government. Elections were held on the 6 executive posts and 20 Office bearers.
