JAMMU: Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) Karate team won XIV North India Karate Do Championship 2014. The championship was organised by J and K Sports Karate Do Association at Rotary Club Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The team of Army Public School, Ratnuchak was adjudged as second best team in the championship.
In the closing ceremony, Chairman, J and K Sports Karate Do Association and Inspector General of Police (Retd), Dr. Ashok Gupta was the Chief Guest while Sensei Anil Kaushik, National President Karate Sangh of India and P.K Mengi DySP Railways were the Guests of Honour.
Two hundred and fifty players from seven States participated in the championship.
The Chief Guest highlighted the significance of extra-curricular activities in the personality development of the youth. He appreciated the winners for their outstanding performance in the championship.
Appreciating the efforts of J and K Sports Karate Do Association for organising such events, former IGP hoped that Association will continue to provide platform to the budding sportsmen in the field.
The Chief Guest lauded Brijesh Bhau for his exemplary performance during the championship.
On the occasion, Dr. Ashok Gupta along with President of the Association Dr. Dushyant Choudhary appointed Sidharth Daluja as Vice President of the Association.
Senior Vice President/Organising Secretary Amandeep Singh, Gopal Dass Chief Referee, Shakti Kumar, Referee and Naresh Chander Technical Director of the Tournament were also felicitated on the occasion.
The championship was jointly sponsored by Tourism Department Jammu, KC Food Products Private Limited, Funscoop Ice Cream and Furutus Juice and IGES College of Nursing and Paramedical.
