JAMMU: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla, asked the R&B, UEED, PHE, PDD, JMC and ERA to gear up for speedy restoration of public utilities in flood hit areas of the State.
This was stated by the minister while interacting with the officers after inspecting losses caused due to flash floods and heavy rains at Shanker Colony and Ekta Vihar of Gangyal area, here on Sunday.
Bhalla asked JMC to remove debris from lanes and drains of the affected localities and choked Nallahs. He said government has provided Rs. 10 crore each for Jammu and Srinagar cities for restoration of damaged public infrastructure.
The minister asked the officers to gear up their men and machinery for completion of restoration works on the damaged projects within the shortest time frame.
Bhalla asked the revenue officers to prepare the list of damages to private property of the people so that the relief under norms could be disbursed among the affected.
The minister called upon the people to avoid encroachment on Nallahs land adding that such practices are dangerous for their properties. He urged them to vacate land voluntarily for safety of their private property.
Later, the minister also visited Government Girls High School and Government Boys High School Jammu Cantt and inspected the arrangements bein put in place being made by the government for flood affected families of Belicharana, Bashir Basti and other localities.
