THANAMANDI: Red Ribbon Club of GDC Thannamandi in collaboration with J and K State Aids Prevention Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education Govt, of Jammu and Kashmir celebrated National youth Day.
Dr. B.B. Sharma Principal of the College was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Dr. S.A Raina Principal GDC Budhal was the Guest of Honour. Besides cultural programmes, an essay competition was also organised in which large number of students participated.
The first position was bagged by Shabina Magray of B.S. 3rd while second position was shared by two students namely Iram Naz and Gulzana Koser. The third position was shared by three students namely Tahir Masood , Rahila Maqsood and Aarzoo Chaand.
Prof Ahsaan and prof Sawan both from Department of English acted as the judges. A lecture on the importance of National Youth Day was presented by Sajjad HoD Islamic Studies, who spoke at length on the topic and answered the quarries raised by students. Principal GDC Budhal Dr. S.A Raina also spoke on the occasion. Dr. B.B. Sharma stressed upon the student to follow the path of Swami Vivekananda. Earlier the programme started with the citation of few verses of Holy Quran by Arshid Slaam. The programme was conducted by Falak Naz of BSc 3rd . The welcome address was presented by Prof. Junaid Jazib HoD EVS while formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Saleem Ayaz Rather Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club of the College.
