JAMMU: Government Degree College (GDC) Mendhar and PG Arts, University of Jammu won their respective matches in the ongoing Inter-college (men’s) Cricket Tournament being held under the banner of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus ground, here on Wednesday.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia.
In the first match, GDC Mendhar defeated IDS Sehora by 35 runs.
Batting first, GDC Mendhar set a target of 111 runs for the loss of none wickets in 12 overs. Tahir Ali played fine innings of 29-ball 42 runs hitting three boundaries and a six. Afaq Ahmed made 20-ball 28 runs smashing five boundaries and Yasir Hamid added 14 to the total. For IDS Sehora, Shantanu picked five wickets followed by Salman who took two and Sibgut and Manik shared apiece each. IDS Sehora, in reply, managed to score 76 runs for the loss of six wickets in allotted 12 overs. Sibgut remained top scorer with 30 runs while Sourav and Shantanu made eight and seven runs respectively. For GDC Mendhar, Afaq and Yasir Mir shared two wickets each while Tahir and Sharaft took one each.
In another match, PG Arts trounced ASCOMS by seven wickets.
ASCOMS, batting first, was bowled out for 103 runs in 19.5 overs. Basit (21), Jagmeet (15) and Mehraj (10)) were top scorers. For PG Arts, Shivdutt, Ashish, Shivam and Manjeet Singh grabbed two wickets each while Deep Kishore took one.
Later, PG Arts, with the fine 40-run off 18 balls knock of Tahir chased the total making 104 runs for the loss of three two wickets in 10.5 overs.
Tahir smashed seven boundaries in his inning. Arun made 35 runs off 27 balls smashing six boundaries while Shivdutt and Nadeem made 15 and five runs respectively. Yuvraj, Abhishek and Anuj shared apiece for ASCOMS.
Today’s matches were officiated by Saleem ur Rehman, Opinderpal Singh, Raj Kumar and Sadiq Hussain.
