AKHNOOR: GDC Khour on Saturday observed ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’. On the occasion a lecture was delivered by Convener on Guidance and Counseling, Prof Gurvinder Kour.
The theme of the lecture was ‘Creating Hope through Action among the Youth’. Creating Hope through Action is the World Suicide Prevention Day’s triennial theme from 2021 to 2023. This theme serves as a reminder that there is an alternative to suicide and is intended to instill confidence and optimism in each of us. World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) was founded in 2003 by the World Health Organization and the International Association for Suicide Prevention. Each year, the 10th of September focuses attention on the issue, minimises stigma, and raises awareness among organisations, the government, and the general public with the message that suicide can be prevented. The event was organised by Convenor IQAC, Prof. Tarsem Lal under the guidance of the college Principal, Prof. (Dr) T. K Sharma.
