SRINAGAR: Two days orientation-cum-dissemination workshop organised by National Health Mission, J&K on Maternal and Child Health Guidelines was held at Srinagar on Friday.
The workshop was inaugurated by Gazzanfer Hussain, Commissioner/Secretary Health and Medical Education Department.
The inaugural session was attended by Majid Khalil Draboo, Special Secretary, H&ME Department; Dr Saleem Ur Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir; Dr Rafiq Pampori, Principal Govt. Medical College, Srinagar; Dr Riyaz Farooq, Principal Govt. Dental College, Srinagar and Dr Kaiser Ahmad, Medical Superintendent, Govt. Dental College, Srinagar.
Gazzenfer said, “National Health Mission has been doing wonderful job by way of providing liberal funding to Health Department and thereby helping the department in strengthening of health infrastructure, additional manpower and various schemes for the benefit of people”.
He urged Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers to strictly follow the guidelines of State Health Society for implementation of the programme and cautioned the drawing and disbursing officers not to violate financial code while incurring expenditure on various activities.
He asked the participants to benefit from such workshops and help the State in improving maternal and child health for bringing down maternal and infant mortality in the State.
Mission Director NHM, J&K, Dr Yashpal Sharma urged for plugging of gaps in the delivery of essential services through action at various levels of the healthcare delivery system so that best maternal and child health care is provided to the community.
He asked the participants to monitor the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and strengthen the reporting mechanism so that it can help administrators in effective planning and implementation of various programmes.
Dr Saleem Ur Rehman and Dr Rafiq Pampori also spoke on the occasion.
The inaugural session was followed by technical session for two days in which detailed presentations on Maternal and Child Health guidelines are being made by Dr Harjeet Rai, Divisional Nodal Officer Jammu, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Divisional Nodal Officer Kashmir, Dr Shabir Ahmad, Programme Manager, RKSK and Dr. Younis Mushtaq, Associate Programme Manager.
