JAMMU: Minster for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga and Minister for Finance and Dr Haseeb Drabu on Friday convened a meeting to listen to the issues of the Jammu industrialists in the backdrop of Goods and Services Tax roll out in the state.
The Finance Minister sought feedback and cooperation of the business community in the hassle-free migration to the new tax regime.
While addressing the meeting, the Industries Minister said that every possible step would be taken to safeguard the interests of the industrialists under GST and appropriate action would be taken on their feedback. He asked the industrialists to deliberate upon the ways by which the industrialists dealing with different sectors get the benefit that they want through the new tax structure.
The minister informed that the State Commercial Taxes and Excise Department has been asked to organise statewide orientation programmes on GST Act to explain the stakeholders about the provisions and procedure for migration to the new tax system.
Speaking in the meeting, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu said the government is making all out efforts to create a congenial atmosphere and extend full support to promote industrial growth in the State.
Earlier industrialists highlighted their issues and raised queries on certain provisions of the GST Act. They also expressed their apprehensions related to special package to the state industries and exemption of toll tax, etc.
Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar, Additional Commissioner Commercial Tax Department, Anu Malhotra, officers and officials of Commercial Tax Department and representatives of various industrial associations were present in the meeting.
