SRINAGAR: Financial Commissioner Industries and Commerce Department, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai reviewed the functioning of the Handicrafts and Handloom departments at a meeting held here on Thursday.
Financial Commissioner directed the Director Handicrafts to propose a concrete line of action to enforce the quality control act taking on board all the stakeholders involved in the marketing of the handicraft items.
Director Handicrafts was advised to maintain a close liaison with the Managing Director SICOP for distribution and installation of the modern carpet looms. Financial Commissioner laid stress on the coordinated efforts between the departments concerned so that the desired results are achieved and maximum number of artisans get benefited from the state and centrally sponsored schemes.
Khurshid Ganai advised the officers of the concerned departments to create more awareness about the centrally sponsored schemes so that artisan community of the state can derive maximum benefits out of the same.
