JAMMU: JK Public School, Kunjwani, observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with great enthusiasm and reverence. The special assembly was anchored by Amilia from Grade VI, whose energy and zeal set a spirited tone for the event.
The assembly began with invocation of the Lord Almighty to always bless the motherland and always ignite the eternal flame of bravery in the heart of every Indian. A soulful patriotic song ‘Taaqat Watan Ki Humse Hai’ set the mood for the event and infused the spirit of patriotism.
The office bearers present on the occasion were the Director, JK Educational Society Shashi Chaudhary; Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore; Vice Principal Roopinder Kaur and Coordinator Primary Wing Anju Raj.
One of the main highlights was a skit enacted by the students of the theatre club. The selection brought alive the valour and emotional strength of Capt Vikram Batra alongwith his soldiers during the Kargil war leaving everyone present deeply touched.
After leading his troops to a daring and successful assault on Point 5140, also known as Tiger Hill, Captain Batra radioed back to base with these electrifying words “Yeh Dil Maange More” at a time when battles were being fought on icy ridges at 16,000+ ft. It was not just a signal of victory – it reflected his unyielding spirit, his thirst for more challenges and his passion to serve the nation beyond limits. Capt Batra’s slogan became a rallying cry for Indian troops and inspired the entire nation.
Students recalled the stories of bravery recounting the significance of war, and urged their peers to cherish their hard-earned freedom. Poems by Sparsh Shukla and Surania Sharma dedicated to the soldiers were recited with deep emotions. They saluted the soldiers who had paid the ultimate sacrifice on the Tiger Hills in extreme circumstances.
Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore addressed the gathering, expressing his pride in the students’ heartfelt participation and reinforcing the significance of remembering and celebrating our national heroes.
He said, “I salute all the brave hearts, gallant soldiers, who never thought even once about their parents, members of the family or their financial conditions while facing their enemies and made the supreme sacrifice to safeguard the honour of their Motherland.
Paying heartfelt homage to martyrs, he made special mention to two of the immortal statements, scribbled by Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey PVC in his diary, “If death strikes me before I prove my blood, I swear, I will kill death”. The other one was “Some goals are so worthy, it’s glorious even to fail”.
The event concluded on a solemn yet uplifting note, leaving every student with a deeper understanding of what it means to serve the nation. It was a reminder that while soldiers are guarding the borders with guns, we, as citizens, must guide the soul of our country with values, integrity and unity.
